POSITION SUMMARY: This is a professional management position responsible for assisting with the Family Services program implementation to meet the federal and state regulations. This position provides training, mentoring, supervision and ongoing monitoring as assigned. This position serves as a Mentor Coach to support the orientation of new Family Services staff and guidance for staff in areas needing improvement. In addition, this position is responsible for district Family Services Worker duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field. Strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to work independently are necessary.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
FAMILY SERVICES MANAGEMENT:
- Supervises and supports the implementation of Head Start Program Performance Standards, agency policies and procedures, and program goals and objectives.
- Participates as a member of the Family Services management team to guide program service delivery.
- Provides training and technical assistance to Family Services staff and parents.
- Assists with Family Services program development, communication, supervision, reporting, and monitoring as assigned.
- Supervise and implement Family Services goals, policies, and activities in accordance with annual program plans, state and federal standards, and other quality initiatives.
- Support the implementation of Family Services activities to enhance school readiness and meet identified school readiness goals.
- Serve as an advocate for low-income and at-risk children and families within the program and community.
- Establish and maintain a working relationship with local school district personnel, medical providers, local community agencies and partners. Participate in community groups to improve services to our families.
- Plan, implement, and provide parent training opportunities using a research-based parent curriculum.
- Positively promotes Murray Head Start within the school district and community.
FAMILY SERVICES MENTOR COACH:
- Provide mentoring support to new Family Services staff regarding orientation and ongoing performance of their job responsibilities.
- Provide coaching guidance to Family Services staff as needed for identified performance areas needing improvement.
- Conduct and track ongoing formal/informal needs assessment to determine Family Services staff requiring additional training, including:

- ERSEA
- Family Engagement
- Health / Nutrition
- Disabilities
- General Family Services
FAMILY SERVICE WORKER:
- Implements Family Services delivery in assigned district(s) in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, agency policies and procedures, and program goals and objectives.
- Develops partnerships and positive relationships with families, school district personnel, and community agencies.
- Provides case management for families including the provision of direct social services and crisis intervention as needed and referral to other agencies as needed for services beyond the scope of the program.
- Reports child abuse/neglect and domestic violence situations according to Head Start procedures.
- Explores and develops creative and innovative methods of encouraging parent participation.
- Performs other district Family Services responsibilities as assigned.
